Malayer L2175
Description
A timeless Herati pattern in one of the most sought-after colorways.
This early 20th century Persian Malayer features a classic Herati (fish) design—an allover pattern of repeating diamond medallions anchored by small, curling leaf forms that resemble fish moving around a central rosette. It creates a beautiful sense of movement and rhythm, while still reading structured and balanced.
Woven in wool on a cotton foundation, the pile is low and softly worn-in, giving the pattern a slightly blurred, textile-like quality that Malayer rugs are so loved for. The palette—washed blue with layered taupe, sand, and subtle olive—is especially desirable: tonal, versatile, and easy to live with, while still offering depth and detail.
The border carries a complementary geometric vine, framing the field without competing, and reinforcing that balance between precision and softness.
