Description
This handwoven Serapi rug features a central medallion with branching geometric motifs and an angular field framed by patterned borders. Produced in Northwest Iran in the late 19th to early 20th century, it is woven with a wool pile on a cotton foundation, representing the durable construction associated with Heriz-Serapi weaving. The large-scale design and structured layout are hallmarks of this tradition, which has maintained a lasting reputation for strength and artistry.
